Welcome

Dear Visitor,
Thank you so much for visiting our website. We would like to extend a very warm welcome to you.
We are very blessed and proud to lead our vibrant school family of St Benet’s.

As this academic year continues, we continue to rely on our children, staff, families, governors, parishioners and friends for their hard work, help and support. 2018 was a very positive year for St Benet’s. We built upon our outstanding R.E. inspection of June 2015. Our results in all Key Stages continued to be exceptional. Our end of Key Stage 2 results in 2018 continue to be particularly impressive for the third year running, and we are immensely proud to be significantly above the National level. Our very successful Ofsted in November 2018 recognised this. However, we are not complacent as we are always endeavouring to move ahead and improve.

Our Year 6 children continue to rise to the challenge during their final year with us. Their motto, is – Be blessed, be happy, be you! They are certainly living up to this.

Our Parish Priest is Father Michael McCoy and he extends a warm welcome to all in our parish and school community. We are part of a parish partnership with St Joseph’s, St Hilda’s and our parish of St Benet’s. We thoroughly enjoy working together with our families, parishioners and colleagues. Our Year 4 children are currently partaking in our Diocesan First Holy Communion Programme.

At St Benet’s RC VA Primary School and Nursery, we believe that our children will learn and reach their full potential, if they are developed in our Catholic school in a happy and nurturing environment.

In addition to our hard-working team of staff, we are very lucky to have such supportive parents and carers who want the best for their children. Our families work in partnership with us in many ways including, our PTA, by volunteering and generously supporting fundraising events.

As a school we are part of a variety of partnerships including the Diocese of Hexham & Newcastle, Monkwearmouth's Catholic Partnership of Schools & Parishes, Together for Children (Sunderland Local Authority), The North of the River Sunderland Schools, Redby Primary Academy (our same site school) and our feeder schools of St Anthony’s Girls’ Catholic Academy and St Aidan’s Catholic Academy. We work closely with a number of other individual local schools for staff development and lessons for our children. We employ a number of agencies and individuals to further serve the needs of our children and families.

Our governors are an extremely caring, supportive and challenging group, who work hard for the development of our school. We will continue to add to our site regularly and carry on improving it.
